Experience one of the world's most legendary whitewater expeditions on a five day journey down the Zambezi River below Victoria Falls. Paddle through exhilarating Grade IV and V rapids like Stairway to Heaven, Oblivion, and Ghostrider, surrounded by the towering basalt cliffs of Batoka Gorge.
This fully guided adventure blends adrenaline, raw wilderness, and unforgettable moments on Africa's greatest river, with scenic riverside camps, delicious meals, campfires, and star filled African skies each night. After the river expedition, we continue to explore the area with a night in Hwange National Park and discover the beauty of Zambezi National Park, where you will explore the magnificent Victoria Falls.

A portion of every trip booking funds the Zambezi River Girls (ZRG), a Worldwide Women of Whitewater (WWoW) program dedicated to connecting, supporting, and empowering women through river based educational experiences and professional development in Zambia & Zimbabwe.
About Worldwide Women of Whitewater
Founded in 2024, WWoW was created to build accessible and equitable pathways for women in whitewater worldwide. Their work began on the Ganges River in Rishikesh, India, where founding members trained the first cohort of women raft guides in a region where the rafting industry had never included women. That program, NariNauka, meaning woman's boat in Hindi, proved both the need and the model.
WWoW is also working with Monde Janzen, who made history as Zambia's first female whitewater rafting guide on the Zambezi. She now mentors the next generation of young women through the WWoW program.
About the Partnership
The Zambezi River Girls program brings WWoW's model to Zimbabwe and Zambia, partnering with locally embedded operators like Try Rafting Co. to connect, support, and empower women through professional river training, mentorship, and community.
Try Rafting Co. is a Victoria Falls based operator with decades of experience on the Zambezi. Founded and guided by Elvis Tshuma, one of the most experienced Zambezi guides working today, Try Rafting Co. runs full Batoka Gorge expeditions through Grade 4 and 5 whitewater in one of Africa's most dramatic river canyons.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Vaccines
General Vaccination Information for Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana
- Yellow Fever: Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required only if you are traveling from, or transiting through, a country where yellow fever is present. Travelers arriving directly from non-risk countries (such as Europe or North America) usually do not need it.
- Routine Vaccinations: It is recommended that travelers are up to date with standard vaccines such as measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, polio, and influenza.
- Recommended Travel Vaccines: Depending on your itinerary and activities, vaccines for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, and rabies may be advised.
- Malaria Prevention: While there is no vaccine, malaria is present in parts of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana. Preventive medication, insect repellent, and mosquito protection are strongly recommended.
- COVID-19: Most restrictions have been lifted, but travelers should carry proof of vaccination or check if testing requirements are in place before departure, as policies can change.
Since health regulations can change and recommendations depend on your travel plans, it's best to consult a travel health clinic or your doctor well before departure.
Packing

Currency
Zimbabwe uses the Zimbabwean dollar alongside the U.S. dollar, while Zambia's currency is the kwacha and Botswana's is the pula. U.S. dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas across all three countries. Credit and debit cards can be used in most hotels, lodges, and larger establishments, though smaller shops or more remote areas may require cash. ATMs are available in cities and towns for withdrawing local currency.
Visa Information
Visa requirements for Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana depend on your nationality.
Zimbabwe and Namibia both require online e-Visa applications as well as visas on arrival at airports and land borders. We recommend you purchase a Double Entry Visa for Zimbabwe.
Zambia grants visa free entry to many nationalities and can be purchased at the border post.
Botswana grants visa-free entry to many nationalities, though some travelers must apply for a visa in advance.
As visa policies are subject to change, we strongly recommend verifying the latest requirements through official government or embassy sources before traveling.
Visa
Visa requirements for Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana depend on nationality. Many travelers from Europe and North America can obtain a visa on arrival or apply online before travel. Some countries are visa-exempt, while others require advance applications. For those visiting both countries, the KAZA Univisa is available for eligible nationalities, allowing entry into Zimbabwe and Zambia with day trips into Botswana a convenient option if your itinerary includes Victoria Falls and Chobe. Always confirm the latest regulations with official sources before your trip.
Weather
Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana share a subtropical climate with two main seasons. The rainy season (November–March) brings hot weather, dramatic afternoon storms, lush green scenery, and excellent birding. The dry season (April–October) is cooler, with sunny days and chilly nights, and is considered the prime safari season, as wildlife congregates around shrinking waterholes and riverbanks. June to August are the coolest months, while September and October can be very hot, especially in low-lying areas.
Language
English is an official language in Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana and is widely spoken in tourism, business, and government. In Zimbabwe, Ndebele and Shona are the most common local languages, while in Botswana, Setswana is spoken by the majority of the population. In Zambia, Bemba, Tonga, Lozi, and Nyanja are widely spoken alongside many other indigenous languages. Visitors will generally find communication in English easy throughout both countries.
