The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from thrilling white-water rafting and bungee jumping to peaceful nature walks and wildlife safaris. The best time to visit for adventure seekers is during the dry season (May to October), although the falls are at their most dramatic during the wet season (November to April). Activities vary in difficulty, so there’s something for all levels. Local guides are available to ensure safety and provide insight into the area’s rich history and wildlife. General

  • Do we need a visa to enter Zimbabwe?

Depending on your nation of origin, in most cases yes you need a visa upon arrival.  Fees vary by country.  Always check your government travel page for detailed information.

  • Should I tip my guide?

It is customary to tip your river guide. Though our staff is well compensated for their time, a gratuity is most appreciated. It is a great way to say thanks, especially if you received outstanding service. We hate to give fixed guidelines, and clients ability to pay extra will obviously vary. Any amount you think appropriate will be well received and will probably depend on the length of the trip. On overnight trips especially, our guides will have prepared at least 4 meals for you and have spent several days entertaining you, keeping you safe, and keeping you comfortable. However, tipping is entirely at your discretion.

  • What is the weather like in Victoria Falls?

Victoria Falls experiences a warm, tropical climate throughout the year. The weather can be broken down into two main seasons:

Wet Season (November–April): The weather is hot and humid with heavy rainfall, particularly from December to March.

Dry Season (May–October): The weather is cooler and drier.

Remember, the weather can vary from year to year, so it’s always a good idea to check the forecast close to your travel date.

  • When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?

The best time to view Victoria Falls depends on what you’re looking for:

High Water (February–July): This is when the Zambezi is at its most powerful, and the falls are a breathtaking sight. However, the spray can sometimes obscure views.

Low Water (August–January): The falls are less dramatic, but the reduced spray offers clearer views of the breathtaking rock formations.

  • When is the best time for a Safari?

The dry season (May–October) is generally considered the best time for wildlife viewing. The lack of water means animals congregate around rivers and waterholes, making them easier to spot.

  • What currency is used in Zimbabwe?

The US dollar is widely accepted in Victoria Falls. It’s advisable to bring small denominations for easy transactions. You can also withdraw cash from ATMs, and credit cards are accepted in most major stores and restaurants.

  • What is a KAZA visa, and where can I get more information?

A KAZA visa, or the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) Uni-Visa, allows travellers to move freely between Zambia and Zimbabwe, making it perfect for visitors to Victoria Falls. It’s available at major airports and border posts and costs $50.

More information can be found on the KAZA Visa page.

Activities

  • What do I need to bring for a rafting trip?

Quick Dry clothing is the best choice for rafting. Sturdy shoes for the hike down and up the gorge. No flip flops or slides.  Sport sandals are ok. Be sure to apply sunscreen if you are wearing short sleeves, bathing suits or shorts.

  • What months are you open for rafting?

We raft the Zambezi all year!  As the water levels change in the river we change our start and end point accordingly.

  • Can kids go rafting?

Yes! The recommended age for rafting is 9 years. We also run a "kid" friendly rafting trip starting at rapid #11. By starting at 11, we bypass the bigger rapids on the top section of the river.
